### Help us save the 70s at the University of Alberta by helping us to digitize and preserve the films produced by the U of A's Department of Radio and Television that tell the stories of our campus community!

“In Touch with U '' was a series of informal, human interest stories produced between 1974 to 1976 by the U of A’s Department of Radio and Television. From [jogging](https://ualberta.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1759/collection_resources/57805?u=t&keywords%5B%5D=touch&keywords%5B%5D=u), to weather satellites, to Student Legal Services, these brief productions profiled diverse activities, people, and facilities, and were filmed at various locations around the University of Alberta campus.

Documenting student life and campus activities, these stories also reflect the use of film technology in teaching and research in an academic environment, and highlight the Department of Radio and Television function as a producer of documentaries, news clips, and news features for broadcast on local television stations. They are a valuable window into the past to view issues, [like housing](https://ualberta.aviaryplatform.com/collections/1759/collection_resources/57777?u=t&keywords%5B%5D=touch&keywords%5B%5D=u), faced by the entire university community, and remember otherwise undocumented facets of the university experience.

The U of A Archives currently has fifty-seven 16mm format reels of this slice-of-life series from the 70's that are at risk of deterioration. With your support, we can digitize and preserve the copies of In Touch With U and these snapshots into daily life at the University. To digitize and restore these films it takes:

* $125 for 10 minutes
* $225 for 11-30 minutes
* $450 for 30-45 minutes

Luckily for you and thanks to our generous matching gift, your donation today means that twice as many minutes will be saved! On top of making these films easier to access, this process will save them from further degradation due to use. Every gift means we can maintain more of the stories of these people and places that may not be able to tell them anymore, and ensure that this piece of U of A history endures for future generations.
