## **Breaking Records. Saving Lives.** 

From August 29th to September 2nd, I will be 1 of over 50 caring and courageous baseball players who will step up to the plate to challenge the Guinness World Record by playing in the 3rd edition of the World’s Longest Baseball Game - all while making a difference for cancer patients right here in Alberta. 

We will be playing baseball for 100+ hours straight - rain or shine - with the goal of raising $300,000 in support of the Cure Cancer Foundation. All funds raised through the 2024 World’s Longest Baseball Game will go towards the purchase of an MR Sim at the Cross Cancer Institute. This state of the art equipment will change the way we detect, diagnose and treat cancer. 

Thanks to the generosity through this baseball game, The University of Alberta researchers will continue to make strides in cancer research and improve the lives of patients and their loved ones.

Cancer is more than just a word; it's a journey that no one chooses to embark upon willingly. It touches lives in ways that are deeply personal and profound, leaving an indelible mark on individuals, families, and communities. Yet, amidst the challenges and uncertainties it brings, there is also incredible strength, courage, and resilience.

To those battling cancer: Your bravery and determination inspire us all. Each day you face adversity with unwavering resolve, showing us what true courage looks like. Your journey is not defined by the disease but by your unwavering spirit and the love that surrounds you.

To caregivers and loved ones: Your support is a beacon of hope in the darkest of times. Your compassion and selflessness light the way for those navigating the complexities of treatment and recovery. Your presence, whether near or far, is a source of comfort and strength.

To researchers and healthcare professionals: Your dedication and tireless efforts are the cornerstone of progress. Through your commitment to advancing knowledge and treatment options, you offer hope for a future where cancer is more manageable and curable.

And to everyone touched by cancer: Let us continue to stand together in solidarity, raising awareness, supporting research, and advocating for better outcomes. Let us celebrate every small victory and honor the memory of those we have lost.
