**Join us on Thursday, April 17, 2025 for Going the Distance, an annual fundraiser to support the Steadward Bears Para Swimming Program!** 

**The Steadward Centre is a leader in Adapted Physical Activity and Para sport development. We deliver innovative programs and share our knowledge and expertise with community fitness and sport leaders across Alberta. Our Centre offers programs supporting athlete and coach development, thus creating a Paralympic pathway in two Summer Paralympic sports (Para swimming & Para athletics).**

**Funds raised through Going the Distance supports the Steadward Bears Para Swimming Program to keep our program costs as low as possible; reducing financial barriers to access para sport for individuals experiencing disability. Serving athletes of a wide age range (7-55+ years), the Steadward Bears Para Swimming Program supports athletes from participation to performance, allowing for athletes to work towards their individual goals in sport. Currently The Steadward Bears Para Swimming Program consists of a learn to swim group, a development group, and a competitive group, totalling over 50 athletes.** 

**Going the Distance is a swim-a-thon type event to bring together our Para swimming community to raise funds in support of our Steadward Bears Para Swim Program, and to enjoy eachothers company as we work towards more community awareness of adaptive physical activity and Para sport programming.**
