**Marcia Jane Langenberg** (née Johnston) passed away peacefully at home on November 12, 2025, surrounded by love. She leaves behind her husband, life partner, and soulmate, Willem Langenberg, who stood faithfully by her side throughout her journey. He feels grateful for 51 years of beautiful memories of shared experiences.

Marcia is survived by her sisters Lynn Gregson, Patricia Johnston, Rae Redekopp (John Redekopp), and Pamela Dennett (Jack Dennett); her niece Catherine Gregson; and her nephews Court Gregson, Tim Groot, and Erik Groot. She was predeceased by her beloved parents Jessie and Lloyd Johnston, and by her sister Susan Johnston.

As a sister, aunt and friend, Marcia was a steady source of love, support, wisdom and unwavering loyalty. She guided us with clarity and compassion.
Marcia devoted much of her life to teaching, meeting her students exactly where they were and helping them grow in ways that left a lasting imprint on their lives. Her commitment to lifelong learning and gentle mentorship made her a beloved educator.

A dedicated practitioner of yoga, Marcia found strength, solace, and connection to her spirit through the practice. She also found profound joy in the outdoors. Whether hiking, cross-country skiing, cycling, or speed skating, she embraced movement and nature with passion and gratitude. The family “cabin” in the Gladstone Valley near Pincher Creek was her sanctuary—a place where she could breathe deeply, restore herself, and commune with the natural world.

Marcia had a deep appreciation for the arts. She delighted in chamber music, theatre, and gallery openings, finding inspiration in creative expression and the artists who brought beauty into the world. Her personal space reflected this passion—carefully curated, warm, and full of character, it stood as a testament to her refined eye and artistic sensibilities.

Willem extends heartfelt thanks to the Palliative Care team for their compassionate guidance during Marcia’s final days, her sisters for their constant vigil and to **Margaret Ann** and John Ritchie, and Oliver Little, for their loving presence and support during a difficult time.

Marcia will be remembered for her fierce spirit, her kindness, her wisdom, and the profound love she gave so freely. She lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.

A celebration of life will happen once the Dutch tulip bulbs she planted bloom in the coming spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the **Johnston Family Endowment Fund** at the University of Alberta to support Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s research—causes close to Marcia’s heart. The creation of this fund resulted largely from Marcia’s efforts.
